If you have hair damaged from chemicals (perms, hair straightening or hair coloring), hair tool use (flat irons, curling irons or blow dryers) or chlorine and the sun, try this banana and olive oil mask to help fix those damaged tresses.

Bananas are rich in tryptophan, an essential amino acid that can help strengthen hair, and potassium, a mineral which helps hair maintain a healthy pH balance.

Ingredients:

  • 1 banana
  • 1 tablespoon of olive or coconut oil (you can also use sweet almond oil)
  • shower cap

Preparation:

Put ingredients in a blender and blend until combined into a paste.

Add a dash of flour if paste is too runny.

Separate hair into 3-5 sections.

Apply mask to each section from roots to ends.

Wind hair into a loose bun if long and place a shower cap over hair. Keep it on for 30 minutes and then rinse out, shampooing and conditioning as usual.

Never tried one b4, Member Zainab.A

I went wild when I did not find Bananas in my fridge. I used Peaches, Milk, Cinnamon, Turmeric, Olive oil, Mint and Almond extract. I kept it for 50 minutes then washed it with my regular shampoo several times to get the fruit chunks out of my hair. I noticed that there was a difference (a Positive difference) in my hair texture (softer at the edges and cleaner near the routs). I felt like I was doing a commercial. Now I can say that I really neglected my hair for so long and your recipes have inspired me to take care oh my hair again. Today I prepared Milk, Honey, Coconut powder, and almond extract combination to give some strength to my hair after last night's softening mask. I am planning to continue doing this twice a week for one month and then reducing it to only once a month. So, wish me luck as I hope by the end of the year my hair looks like piece of heaven silk. Thank you. Regards, Zainab
