Looking like Sarah Palin is pretty simple. All you need is brown hair (or a wig), rimless glasses (you can get reading glasses at a drugstore), a prim suit (no need to spend $150,000), a flag pin and red pumps.

Tease hair at the crown and then smooth into a French twist. It's important to get a huge beehive out of the top of it. You'll also need bangs. Get a wig if you must.
Mauve, shiny lips are a must. Vaseline works for added shine. Apply eyeliner and lots of blush.
