Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Garner, and My 70-Year-Old Mom All Use This One Hair Tool

As a child, I would get semi-horrified whenever my mom would curl her hair. She's had the same styling MO for years (aka like 55 because she's curled her hair since she was a teen), and regardless of our destination (school, soccer, dance, mall), she'd herd me into the car with a head looking like exhibit A, shown below. Being the bratty teen I now know I was, I'd melt into our car's backseat 100% mortified every time. I mean, she would disentangle and glamourously tousle her curls to perfection before we made any direct face-to-face contact with other humans, but still. Someone could have seen us by way of the car window.

But now, fast-forward nearly a decade later, and my mom still has all the same tricks and all the still-fabulous hair. What has changed is my reaction. Instead of hiding, I now post self-proclaimed hilarious visuals on social media. (Oh, how times have changed.)

What's more, my mom's favorite curling method is also (apparently) preferred by some of the most hair-blessed celebrities in the business—more specifically, the most epic of gal pals, Jennifer Garner and Reese Witherspoon. In fact, to honor and congratulate Witherspoon on her lifestyle book, Whiskey in a Teacup: What Growing Up in the South Taught Me About Life, Love, and Baking Biscuits, Garner took to Instagram to try out one of her friend's most sworn by tricks of the trade: hot rollers.

Hilarious, endearing, and relatable AF, Garner's always on-point comedic chops made me laugh out loud and reconsider the old-school curling method. After all, if hot rollers are good enough for badass beauties like Garner and Witherspoon (Garnerspoon? Let's make that happen!), they're most certainly good enough for all of us.

Check out five covetable hot roller sets that just might replace your favorite wands. Dearest curling irons—watch your rod.
