How To Get What You Want From Your Hair Stylist

There are lots of little tricks to picking the perfect stylist and here's a list of the most important ones. If you keep all of these in mind, you will probably leave the salon with a smile on your face.

Difficulty: N/A

Time Required: N/A

Here's How:

1.   If you are looking for a new stylist, start by looking at the salon itself. Is it clean and neat? Now look at the stylists. What condition is their hair in? Do they look happy or miserable.

2.   Believe me, you won't get a good style from a miserable stylist.

3.   To your stylist, you are probably (unless you visit often) a relative stranger. Be sure to tell him how well you can manage your own hair, how much time you have etc. You also need to tell him if you are looking for a simple style, or can take care of a more complicated style.

4.   If you don't like something, say so. There is no point leaving the salon with a style you hate. Remember, you are paying.

5.   Look through magazines for styles that appeal to you and then take a photo with you to the salon. He might not be able to copy the style,(your hair texture, amount of curl etc.) but he will have a good idea of what you are looking for.

6.   Ask the stylist to explain what he is doing as he puts on the finishing touches. You will want to be able to duplicate the style at home.

7.   Don't be afraid to ask questions and if you don't understand something, ask him to explain in layman terms. They often forget that you are a novice at the technical details.

8.   Don't buy the products offered unless you want them. If you like the results, but cannot afford them at the moment, ask for the names to be jotted down so that you can make a purchase later. They will be happy to do this for you.
