The Secrets to the Long Bob Haircut

If you had to pick one fashion magazine to subscribe to, get Allure. This is the one magazine on the market that features more beauty content than fashion (usually the beauty department is treated like the ugly stepchild at fashion magazines) and the articles are actually chock-full of value.

The August issue is a must-read and includes tips on how to get the most stylist haircuts of the season. Here's what I learned about the secrets to a great bob haircut, as seen on Liv Tyler, Gwyneth Paltrow, Katie Holmes and others:

1. Longer bobs, like Liv's, can be bland if too blunt. Stacked layers in the back add dimension.
2. A bob can't be too layered, or it's not a bob. Gwyneth's bob here is more edgy because the stylist thinned out the ends with scissors or a razor.
3. Ask the stylist to make your bob a touch shorter in the back.
