Since curls are so 'in' one would wonder if perms are too. After all who wants to go to the trouble every day of winding their hair around a curling iron barrel just to achieve the Look of the Moment, when you can get a perm in 2 hours & have curls for up to 6 months? Perms still haven't become de rigeur, but they are totally accessible and a great way to get the hot look of the moment.

I would absolutely have to agree. I have been getting what my stylist refers to as “texture” becuase I have flat hair that sticks to my face and will not hold curl no matter how hard I try. My texture (or perm) service gives me so much great body – I can wear it curly, and I can also wer it straight. The best part about wearing it striaght is that the texture allows me to retain style ALL DAY without going flat. It is so totally awesome.

i have straight hair that come just to my shoulders. i really want a perm. some spirly curles would be very cute. but some people are saying my hair is to short and wouldn’t look all that great permed. but im sick of just straight hair? what do you think?
I agree with Stacey about the “texture” comment. It seems that the perm has been “reinvented” with a new name. I guess just the mention of a perm and its stigma as that poodle look sends people running, so renaming it “the textured look” seems to give it more fashion savvy.
Whichever name you call it, perm or texture, that look is definitely back.
