Finally, a Self-Tanner That Doesn't Reek

Thursday March 29, 2007
In a recent blog I told the world I loathed self-tanners because every single one of them has at least a slight smell. Not only did you guys came to the rescue to share your favorite reek-less self-tanners, but Lisa and Monica turned me onto Glow Fusion, which (drum roll please) ... DOES NOT STINK. It's well worth the price. My new "tan" looks incredibly natural. Here's a rundown of your favorites and my new one, just in time for spring!

1. Glow Fusion, perhaps The Perfect Self-Tanner, buy it at Sephora or online here (I bought light because I'm really pale right now).
2. Julie plugged Tan Towels, which were also written up in April's Lucky Magazine.
3. Académie self-tanning lotion, suggested by Bibi, find it in the UK
4. Belinda suggests we try Yves Rocher sunless towelettes
5. Jessica loved Hawaiian Tropic self-tanning lotion, but noticed it wasn't on shelves anymore. I think I found it here.

Have a favorite self-tanner? Let us know about it in the comment box below!

I’ve heard GREAT things about “The Big Skinny” by Philosophy. You can get it at Sephora.

As a ever-pale Irish girl, I think I’ve tried every self tanner known to woman. Over the years, I’ve also become quite a pro at application. If anyone is interested, I’ve joted down all the best tips and tricks I personally use to get a golden, streak free tan that lasts at least a week.

Heather posted a year ago, so she’s probably not following this trail anymore. But here are some tips from me: Make sure to exfoliate your body with a scrub in the shower before you apply. Tanner tends to stick to dead skin, making it appear darker in places. Apply moisturizer to knees, back of knees, elbows and any creases before applying tanner. Don’t shower for a few hours after application to let tanner soak in.
