Hi! I'm Danyelle Vilmenay for Style!

Tips to Brighten Eyes

I'm going to use a pencil that is off white, just to bring it around the baseline of your eyelash. This is going to help with making the white of your eyes appear to be brighter. And if you have a problem where you want to make your eyes stand out for everyday, but you don't want to use that hard smoky black or brown, you do something like a plum, which is going to help to make them pop open as well.

I'm going to be applying a little bit more pressure when I use this brush, I like to use it consider it as a pencil brush. It has the same tip of a pencil. I'm just going to smooth out my color so that way you have more of a subtle line. It's a bit softer on the eye but still gives you that drama that you're looking for.

I'm also going to use softer tones just in the corners to highlight and open up your eye area.

I love to use pencils verses bases. It helps for the eye shadow to adhere better. That way you don't have to worry so much about reapplying your makeup throughout the day.

And I'm using a soft taupe brown around the base of the eyelid. I'm going to use the same pencil brush just to softly blend in eye shadow at the bottom to use as a liner.

So if you see here, you still have that soft plum underneath, that brings out that intense darkness, that a dark brown or a black would do, but make your eyes pop and open up.

Using Mascara to Brighten Eyes

To keep that soft look and just keep your eyes alert and awake looking, you can use a plum or a deep purple mascara. And when you're applying the mascara, you want to get it as close to the lash line as possible. And if you want to get the most out of your mascara wand, when you apply, go to the base and wiggle your way up. That way you get as much color on every lash as possible. That will help to avoid the Spider Lash.
