Q. How Do You Tame a Sun Burn?
A.
You have done your best to prevent a sun burn, but at the end of the day, you find yourself with a burn that looks quite nasty. Here are a few things you can do to calm the pain.
- Drink as much water as you can. You are likely dehydrated.
- Use a cool compress over the burned skin to ease the pain.
- If the burn is severe, it might be a good idea to seek the advice of a doctor.
- A cool bath with the addition of a cup or two of cornstarch will feel heavenly.
- Lettuce water has been used for years. All you have to do is chop the lettuce and then place in a saucepan with a cup of water. Bring to a boil and then allow to cool. Strain and then apply to burned areas with a cotton ball.
Hopefully, after one burn, you will keep that bottle of sunscreen handy so that you don't suffer another. Here's to a great sun burn free summer!
