When I last wrote about my experiences, I wasn't thrilled with the results. Springtime came and the hair on my legs had sprung. It was almost like the old days where I had to shave every day. I was so disappointed that I avoided going for treatments and I stopped writing the diary. Since then, nothing has changed. The hair tends to grow in thicker in March, stays thick through July and then miraculously thins out in August and stays that way until March. This has happened now three years in a row.
Where Am I in the Course of Treatments?
I still have not gone in for my last leg treatment.Last time I went in, the hair on my legs was so thick, Michelle (the technician) felt them and said, "Oh no, I wish that you had come in every 6 weeks like you were supposed to."
Maybe that's why it didn't work? Who knows. But spending 3 hours on a table to get an INCREDIBLY PAINFUL shock treatment just is hard for two reasons: It's a damn lot of time and it hurts so much I dread going in.
At some point, I'll go in for that last treatment.
Has the Hair Grown Back or Am I Hair-Free?
Nothing has changed since my last post.I'd say I've seen a 50 percent drop in hair growth on my bikini line and maybe a 40 percent drop on my legs. And the effect seems to be seasonal. Some months, it seems to grow in less, other months it seems to grow back more.
Some months I only have to shave once a week. Other months, I probably should every other day. I was hoping, of course, to only have to shave monthly, but that's simply not the case.
I visited a renowned plastic surgeon in NY about a year ago and told him about my experience. He looked at me skeptically and said my results were not the norm. So who knows? Maybe I should have stuck to a schedule instead of going back once every few months. Maybe the laser they used wasn't great.
Would I Get Laser Hair Removal Again?
I'm torn on the question of whether I'd do it again. In the months, when the hair is sparse, I'm happier than the months where it seems to grow back in.I tell people when they ask that I would do the bikini again but I would not do the full leg. I just don't think the results are worth $6,000. The bikini was cheaper and with about 50 percent drop in hair growth (not the 80 percent I expected), I'd give the procedure 2 1/2 stars out of 5. The legs, I'd give 1 1/2 stars out of 5.
I'll check back in after my final treatment and let you know how it goes.
