Teen Costumes - Fairy Witch

Quick Tip

Witches have gotten a rotten deal for as long as I can remember. Who came up with the idea that they had to be ugly? I'm about to change all of that. We have a great looking costume and makeup too.

A little about the costume... In a palette of Orange, Black and White, this alluring one-piece witch outfit includes an off-the-shoulder dress with a jagged hemline, attached striped glovettes, single set of detachable wings* and a striped hat. Going out as a group? Then consider the other members of the Fairy-Licious collection (Devil Fairy, Graveyard Fairy and Spider Fairy).

This costume can be purchased in its entirety, or you can brainstorm for your own version of a "Fairy Witch". How do you do that? Simple... start with a piece of paper and then write down everything that you think of that you could use to create your very own "Fairy Witch". What comes to mind?

Makeup for the Gorgeous Witch

Foundation: Your regular foundation should work quite nicely, but try applying it with a foundation brush instead of a sponge. The coverage is sheer, but flawless.

Concealer: If you need concealer, apply whatever is necessary with the aid of a foundation brush. Actually, there is such a thing as a concealer brush which is just a smaller version of the foundation brush. Mine usually does double duty.

Shading: Not needed, but if you want to emphasize your cheekbones, a little color below will help give them a little boost.

Eye Liner: Line the ENTIRE eye with black liner and then smudge for a smoky effect. Work a little green shadow on top for a little interest! This smudging should be very evident below the eye. While a freshly sharpened pencil is always easier to work with, be careful while lining. Mistakes happen and they can hurt.

Eye Brows: You obviously won't want anyone in the room with better brows than you, so do whatever maintenance is necessary. Remember, often they will need only snipping of long hairs. Plucking isn't always necessary.

Eye Shadow: I would suggest a wash of a bluish white powder shadow. Be sure to work it into the corners so that the area glows. Now work in a black shade from lashline to crease. You shouldn't see where the color starts or where it finishes, so be sure to blend well. Add a nice thick coat of mascara, but no clumps.

Blush: I'm going to suggest that you start with an orange tone of blush... think apricot and then top it with a pink shade. Blend well until the two colors melt into one. I often use two shades of blush and for some reason, it always appears natural. When you are finished blending, you won't be able to tell what colors you used. It simply looks natural. Just one of those little tricks I guess!

Lipstick: Okay, I gave this a lot of thought and have decided that I really must go with a blood red lip color. This is probably the only time when I will have eyes this strong with lips to match.
