This is one of my favorite images of the Obamas at a state fair in Iowa. It's an intimate glimpse into what seems to be a very strong partnership. Their bond here reminds me of an interview recently republished by the New Yorker magazine, which was done of the Obamas in 1996 when they were a young married couple living in Chicago. It was before the jump into politics and the birth of their daughters. Michelle Obama's comments are extraordinary, almost 13 years later:

There is a possibility that our futures will go that way, even though I want to have kids and travel, spend time with family, and like spending time with friends. But we are going to be busy people doing lots of stuff. And it’ll be interesting to see what life has to offer. In many ways, we are here for the ride, just sort of seeing what opportunities open themselves up. (Read the full article here).
