How to Plump Up Skin Before You Apply Foundation

By , About.com Guide

To keep foundation from settling into fine lines and wrinkles, hydrate skin before application with a wet, hydrating moisturizer or foundation primer.

A dense moisturizer plumps up skin and is especially important if you have dry skin. Moisturizer or foundation primer works much like the paint primer does: It prepares a canvas for even application.

Extra tip: Use your fingers to apply foundation. The warmth of your skin is great for blending, according to makeup artist Bobbi Brown in the May 2007 issue of InStyle magazine.
