African-American Skin: How to Avoid 'Pancake Makeup' Look

By Julyne Derrick, About.com

Here's a foundation tip for African-American skin we found in the March, 2006, issue of 'O' magazine.

Dark-skinned women can avoid the 'pancake makeup' look by using 2 different shades of base -- a lighter color for forehead & nose areas & a darker one for the rest of the face. Make sure to blend color in well (we love makeup wedges) & don't forget to put color on your neck.

For more beauty tips for African-American skin, try 'The Beauty of Color,' what we consider to be the Beauty Bible for skin of color. You can get the book online for as low as $14 (regular prices is $29.95).
