Review of Taylor Made Minerals Eye Pigments

Examples of some of the 150-plus shades available

The Bottom Line

Reviewed by Wendy Wisotzkey (May 2007)

Taylor Made Mineral Eye Pigments are by far my all-time favorite eyeshadows. They go on wonderfully smooth with very good color intensity, whether applied wet or dry. Color intensity is moderate, but a more saturated coloration can be achieved by building the product in layers on the eyelid. Colors are available in both matte and shimmer

You can't beat the price at $3 per five gram jar. The wide range of shades (152 and counting) can be overwhelming, but the company sells samples (75 cents to a $1 each) so you can try before you buy.

Pros

  • Excellent customer service; generous samples so you can try before you buy
  • Color is great to build on
  • Wide range of shades
  • Fantastic value

Cons

  • May rub off more readily if applied dry, instead of wet
  • Only available for purchase from Taylor Made Minerals’ website
  • Jars may leak due to occasional ill-fitting lids

Description

  • Goes on smooth, is very buildable
  • Appropriate for wide range of skin tones
  • Able to achieve different looks with wet or dry application

Guide Review - Review of Taylor Made Minerals Eye Pigments

Taylor Made Minerals is a small, woman-owned mineral makeup company based in Garland, Texas. I've been using the product ever since I went in search of a more affordable alternative to another mineral makeup eyeshadow I'd been using for several years.

You can apply these eyeshadows either wet or dry, depending on what look you're after. For deeper color saturation and more intense effect, apply the eye pigments wet. If you prefer a more muted look appropriate for the office, apply the eyeshadow dry.

For wet application, simply mix in a few drops of water. The effect is amazing.

One definite con of this product are the jars they come in. I've recieved eye pigment with ill-fitting lids, which caused some of the product to leak out during shipping. At the time of this review, the company was addressing this issue and they report the Eye Pigments will be packaged in new, higher-quality jars beginning within the next two weeks.

What do others say about Taylor Made Mineral Eye Pigments?

Because Taylor Made Minerals is a small company, there are few reviews on the company’s products at this time. However, on a Mineral Makeup Talk forum many women rate it one of their top three mineral eyeshadows in terms of quality of product, color saturation and value.

Of the eight users who rated the product at the time of this review, 100% reported they would buy it again. They liked that it was “highly pigmented." Others were not quite as enthusiastic about the product due to the amount of shimmer in some of the colors.
