Make sure the ends aren't cut straight across (long layers are preferred), otherwise you could be left with a triangular look that's not great for square faces. Extra note: Consider a side part, rather than a middle part, which also softens angular features.
The hairstyle on the right is too sharp for a square face. In fact, it only makes your angles more glaringly ... angular.
