| Vacation Beauty Guide | |
I travel alot and one of my hardest decisions is deciding what to take with me and what I can leave at home. I have found that my skin picks up DIRT so much faster when I'm on vacation. Perhaps it's because I'm outside more... who knows. But I do know that if I want my skin to look its best, I have to take care of my skin. Who wants blemishes while on vacation?
The second most important thing to consider is how you are going to transport what you need so that you aren't taking an entire suitcase just for your personal toiletries... and yes, I have done that. But I knew that there had to be a better way than dumping everything I owned into a separate suitcase and then emptying everything onto the hotel bathroom vanity. It was a mess and I like everything neat and tidy. Here is an example of what I take with me. Cosmetic Carryall... Cleansers...You definitely need a good cleanser, but the last thing you need is to lug around jars and bottles. I don't even think about this at home, but when you are packing, size suddenly does matter. I find that packing sudsing cleansing cloths are the easiest way to take care of cleaning your skin. Pop two into the cosmetic case for every day that you are going to be away. If you find you need more, here's your chance to test out a new product. Toner... Do I Leave This at Home?
No, a toner will show if you missed any dirt on your skin and during vacation, as I mentioned earlier, your skin tends to pick up even more dirt than usual. A quick swipe with a cotton ball tells me in seconds flat, if my skin is clean. Again size matters. I pour toner into a plastic travel size bottle and that goes into my case. Cotton Balls
I take two kinds... quilted ones that don't fall apart (for my face) and regular ones to remove nail polish. A handful of each takes next to no space at all. Moisturizer
I can't live without my moisturizer. I have both oily skin and dry... lucky me. That means that if I don't apply a moisturizer around my chin, I start to flake. A two week (or so) supply of moisturizer is poured into a a travel size bottle. If you have received tube samples of products throughout the year, save these. They will probably be enough to get you through your entire vacation. Makeup
Here is an area that can really get me into trouble. As you can probably imagine, I own tons and tons of makeup. Every day I can pick and choose, but I simply can't take it all with me. I have to decide what I can leave behind. I narrowed it down by using my 5 Minute Makeup tutorial. 5 Minute Makeup So into my case goes:
- foundation
- powder compact for shine (It's easier to carry than loose powder)
- fat brown pencil for shading and lining
- mascara
- *a pinky coral blush cream that doubles as lip color
- neutral shadow that I can wear with anything
