Did you know that you have approximately 3,000 to 4,000 hair follicles per square inch so is it any wonder that women find shaving a tedious chore? Unfortunately it is something that most of us have to devote a little time to. I have offered you tips on getting the cleanest shave a few years ago, now I'm going to look at some of the bad habits that we all forget about.
- Mistake #1
You waste your time using a dull razor
*It should be changed at least once a week. - Mistake #2
*You shave your legs in seconds flat.
This is one thing you simply can't rush. I know that it takes a lot of time, but the slower you shave, the better the shave. - Mistake #3
You shave right over skin eruptions. *What you are doing is slicing off the top layer of skin and this can sting. An electric razor might be a safer choice. - Mistake #4
You jump right out of the tub, dry off and straight into clothes.
*You are making a big mistake here. After shaving, be sure to apply a moisturizer to your legs. In the summer, a nice cold moisturizer will feel terrific and it will really help razor burn. - Mistake #5
You reach for a bar of soap, thinking that it will work just as well as any other product.
*You will soon learn that it doesn't. Instead, treat yourself to a good thick shaving gel. - Mistake #6
You don't give your legs a break before heading to the beach.
*Let the skin rest for 12 hours. - Mistake #7
The last tip is especially important if you are near salt water. Salt water finding tiny nicks on your legs, can really sting. You might want to wait 24 hours. Salt water REALLY stings. - Mistake #8
Some books say that you shouldn't shave against the direction of the hair.
*Unfortunately, you can't get a clean shave if you don't. Here is where a good shaving gel come in really handy. - Mistake #9
Shaving first thing in the morning.
This is just as important to women as it is for men. Your skin won't be as taut as later in the day. - Mistake #10
You don't soak the hairs about to be shaved.
Your hairs need to soak up water for at least three minutes. Dry hairs are more difficult to cut and quickly contributes to the breakdown of the razor blade. This leads to a dull blade, not to mention razor burn.
