What's Hot For July
What You Should Know!

We have been experiencing sweltering temperatures here in Toronto, but this week's article has nothing to do with heat!

Butterfly Accessories
They were very popular at summer catwalks and they are making their presence known on the streets as well. Keep your eyes open for clips and pins for the hair. I have even noticed butterflies that attach to your sandals. Keep your eyes open.

Tinted Shades

It is becoming popular to match up your swimsuit with sunglasses to match. Every shade of the rainbow will be seen on the beach this summer.

Summer Fragrances

Look for solid perfumes that you can pop into your purse and dab on your pulse points during the day.

Check out Gucci Envy... it has that name for a reason!

Have you noticed that there are tons of pretty pink bottles on the market. Floral scents in pretty bottles are a hit this month. Head to the fragrance counter and check them out. The florals are very subtle, so you don't have to worry about wearing a scent that is for little girls. We can all wear them.

Blushes

Look for rose pinks to help show off your (sunless) tan this summer. Be sure to apply with a light touch. Don't overdo.

A Little Sparkle
Perfect for a summer night... a little sparkle from Cargo. Look for CargoTube in Champagne and then apply it to your cheeks, eyes, and lips.

Lipsticks

Corals of every intensity are hot this month. If you can't carry off this shade, you can opt for a pinky coral. That will work as well. Be sure to wander around the cosmetic counters. You will be amazed at how many variations you will find.

Shadows

Blues and Lilacs are the shades of the month. Look for sheer and color washes.

Another gorgeous collection comes from Chanel. It contains 13 creamy pearls that can be used for the eyes, lips and cheeks. Everything in one compact. I love it!

Nail Colors
Colors are hot... corals, tangerines, hot pinky corals... just like the lipstick shades. They are available in every price range, so be sure to stock up. Your toes will look amazing.

Hair
This month... the hair has to move. No flat hair that has has taken hours to achieve. Messy is good.

Lots of pony tails will be seen, but not the same old pony tails that you remember from your childhood. They are ranging from slicked back, to loose and sexy.

Handbags
Forget those tiny little numbers that will carry only a wallet. They are bigger this year and the busier the pattern, the better. Now everything you need to carry, has a place.

Skincare
During the summer months, you might find that your skin seems more oily than usual. You must be very careful not to use a product that strips away too much oil.

Self Tanning (The Face)
It is really important that the face is clean and dry. An extra step you might want to take is to use a toner to remove any traces of makeup or oil that might still be on your face. This could cause splotches and that's not what you want.

Self-Tanner Mistakes
Be aware that some of the self tanners are now containing bronzing agents. And they rub off. Not the time to put on a new white sun dress.
*Here is another little piece of advice. Be sure that every inch of your skin is dry. Just a little bit of moisture can ruin the effect of the self-tanning product.

Product Reviews

Sudsy Gel Cleanser by Nancy Reagan
A mild, non-iritating cleanser containing allantoin, panthenol, yucca and cucumber. After trying this product, I found it to as gentle as it claimed and the skin felt soft after cleansing.

Pelan Silt Peppermint Mask also by Nancy Reagan, contains nourishing pelan silt which was formed 10,000 years ago in Eastern Europe. This particular mask is formulated primarily for oilier skins, however the company offers several other masks that would be perfect for your particular skin type. My daughter and I both tried this mask and we both enjoyed the fragrance, the texture, and the results of this mask. Obviously a good choice for any age group.

Tissue Hydrating Gel...
Here is a product that is a little different. It is a hydrating gel that if formulated to protect the skin as a sealer. It contains Sodium Hyalronate to bind moisture and can be applied before makeup.

*All products from this skin care line are non-comedogenic, hypo allergenic, fragrance and color free.
