Calorie Counting Tips For May
A Few Quick Tricks

Laugh Away Your Spare Tire
One hundred laughs a day is equal to 10 minutes of exercise! Now, can it get any easier than that?

Which is Higher in Calories?
You might think that reaching for a beverage will save you calories, but it simply isn't so. The raw fruit offers less calories and will also take you longer to eat. A medium-sized orange for example, contains 65 calories, while a moderate-sized glass of orange juice has 116 and that's only if it's fresh. Frozen juice contains even more calories.

Why You Need Water?
It is so important because dieting leads to dehydration. Carrying around a water bottle will give you something to do. You will be amazed at how often you will reach for a sip rather than a snack.

Spicy Popcorn
If you have a medical problem that makes you watch your salt intake, you can still enjoy popcorn. Here is a recipe that is far from bland.

  • 1/2 cup of popping corn
  • 3 T parmesan cheese
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • a generous tsp. of Italian Herb Seasoning
  • pinch of paprika
  • 1 T butter
  • 1 T water
Combine all ingredients and place in a microwave (on high) for a minute or so or until the butter has completely melted. Stir occasionally and then drizzle over the popcorn. Enjoy.

Eat More and Shrink Your Stomach
Did you know that you can shrink your stomach as much as 33% by eating five or six small meals a day instead of three large ones. If the stomach is smaller, you feel full faster.

How Many Calories Do You Need?
If you weigh 130 pounds, to avoid gaining any more or losing any more for that matter, you should consume 1300 calories. If you weigh 140 pounds, you will need 1400 calories. The amount of physical exercise should be what you customarily do during an average day.

Walking Is Boring
It all depends where you do it. Try a shopping mall, the neighborhood, or even around the block. Try choosing a new route so that there is always something new to look at. It is also a good idea to take a cell phone with you on your walks, just in case you need to call for help.

The Calories in Your Bowl of Cereal
If you are a cereal eater, you might be surprised to find out that different cereals vary greatly in calories and I'm not only talking about children's cereals. One cup of Special K, for example, has one of the lowest calorie counts of all the cereals. A cereal offering nuts and raisins is going to push the calorie count way up. So, before you pour yourself a bowl, take a look at just how many calories are in one cup. You might be surprised.

Oranges... Wow!
Can't stop talking about oranges! Did you know that oranges have a lot going for them and a lot of benefits to share. They are only 64 calories and the most filling fruit per calorie. They contain more fibre than one serving of granola, a slice of bread or even a banana. It also contains 21 percent of the recommended amount of B-vitamin folate. And even better, women who consume the most folate from their dietary intake, reduce their chance of heart disease by an impressive thirty percent. Have you stopped by the forum today? Here's what they are talking about.
