| My Day At The Salon | |
With February drawing to a close, I was in the need for a little pampering. Winter is not my favorite time of
year. I thought about it for a while, and decided that a trip to the salon for a make-over would do nicely.
I was tired of my hair, which is much longer than you see in my photograph. And as my
husband was out of town for a week, I thought that this would be the perfect time to go for something really
different. I went through a few magazines and settled on a style that appealed to me. It was cut to about
chin level and had chunky highlights running through it. Now that sounded kind of interesting to me.
But would the stylist agree?
I showed them the photo and luckily they said that it would be perfect for me. Then out came the scissors. "We will
just cut off this part (the pony tail) and after we have colored it... we will cut it again... properly. Don't worry about a thing." That kind of scared me.
But with a quick snip, it was all gone. There was no backing out now.
The color books came out next and two stylists poured over swatches until they agreed on the perfect
color. After that was decided upon, the color for the highlights was next. This part interested me. I
had never been sure where the highlights were to go. Hair mascara sounded great until you got it in
your hand and the wand was waving in front of your face. Soon I would know.
So, how did my day turn out? Absolutely fabulous. I love my hair even though it is much shorter than any
style that I have had in years and better than that, my teenaged son said that I looked great. For a 19 year
old to even notice, is saying something positive. My daughter however, wasn't so sure. She liked my hair longer
but I think she has changed her mind because she too has booked an appointment for the highlights
next week. And the best praise came a couple of days later when my husband returned from his business
trip. He liked it too... he really liked it!
So, if you haven't pampered yourself in a while, maybe you deserve it. And let someone else do the hard
part... choosing the best colors and cut. Put yourself into their hands, close your eyes and do a little day dreaming.
It's a great way to spend the day.

That old fashioned mayonnaise (not the low cal variety) is a great moisturizer for your hair. Shampoo as usual
and then apply about a tablespoon. Wrap your hair in a plastic shower cap for a half hour and then re-shampoo
and rinse thoroughly.
