What Doc Martin Has To Say About Your Skin
|
 |
What You Should Know...
Doctor Laura Martin decided to retire in January of 2000 after 60 years of practice. At the time of this writing, she is 84 years old
and her skin looks wonderful. She cleanses her face with warm water and a face cloth, avoids make up that can clog her pores
and religiously uses a small amount of cream containing glycolic acid on both her face and her neck.
Here are a few tips that she passed on. They are very easy to follow.
- your skin does mirror your health
- women use way too many products, jumping from one to another and they really don't need all of them
- perfume in products causes many problems. They can cause all kinds of rashes that needn't happen if the perfumes were left
out
- stay out of the sun between the hours of 11 am and 3pm
Adult Acne
If you are breaking out and you aren't a teenager any longer, research shows that stress and
hormone changes can play a factor in the sudden appearance of adult acne.
Is Your Skin Dehydrated?
Winter months can often mean centrally heated home containing little moisture. To combat this, invest in a humidifier
or even place bowls of water around your home. It doesn't take a lot to put moisture back into your environment. You simply
have to remember to do it.
History of Cold Cream
Cold Cream has been around probably a lot longer than you ever imagined. It was formulated by a Greek physician
named Galen in the 2nd century. His formulation consisted of one part melted white wax , added to
three parts olive oil. To add a scent to this cream, he steeped rose buds in the oil. He then blended in as much water as possible and voila... cold cream!
