Question: "Do women over 50 need to be more careful of the amount of time they spend on the computer so that their eyes are not damaged?"
Answer: "A survey of the literature and the eye doctors shows no evidence of harm to the eyes of women over 50. Nor, among young women either. Most of the complaints of eye symptoms come from muscle fatigue because the glasses used aren't correct for the screen. We all develop the need for reading glasses, but unless we use the correct visual correction, the muscles strain in order to force the lens into shape. If you have any eye symptoms, first check and make sure the glasses you use are correct for the distance to the screen. Besides, with HMOs cancelling Seniors, and getting in to see a specialist becoming more difficult, women need the internet for health information. Thanks to the net, women have the opportunity to find out about "very personal" subjects in privacy."
