Pamper Yourself...
It's Christmas

There is just something magical about Christmas. The parties to attend, the company dinners, the holiday shopping... The month is full to bursting with activities but I wouldn't have it any other way. But it is also a time to get just a little frazzled with all that activity. That's why I am suggesting a day to pamper yourself.

I suggest that you do a little preparing before hand so that you will really be ready to pamper yourself when your day arrives. Here are a few suggestions.

The Week Before:

  • Decide on a fabulous breakfast and buy accordingly.
  • Is there a new bubble bath or oil that you have been meaning to try but simply never got around to it?? Now's your chance.
  • Purchase some scented candles for the bath experience
  • Book your appointment at a beauty salon for late afternoon.
An entire day devoted to making yourself gorgeous...

Breakfast:
At home I usually have a bowl of raisin bran and a cup of coffee. I haven't the time or inclination to have something more elaborate but today I'm pampering myself. On a recent business trip, I enjoyed a great breakfast consisting of tons of fresh fruit, cottage cheese and a muffin. Orange juice accompanied this and a full bodied coffee to end the breakfast... which was leisurely! Very leisurely in fact. No jumping up from the table and running to the computer. This is the kind of breakfast that I would choose for my day of pampering.

Late Morning
I don't usually have time for this but I'm a sucker for a good romance novel... with a Christmas theme of course. I plan to turn on the fireplace, my feet up, and just read to my hearts content. If you find reading relaxing, go ahead and steal my idea. If you would rather go for a nice walk around the neighborhood, go for it. The purpose is to do something totally different so that you feel utterly pampered!

Lunch
Choose your lunch menu according to when you will be eating dinner. I have been to several company Christmas parties where dinner is served at a late hour. If this is the case, it might be a good idea to enjoy a hearty lunch. Soup and salad would be my choice but feel free to choose your own menu.

Late Afternoon:
There are two kinds of baths... the one that you jump into, shave your legs and then jump out of. And then, there are the luxurious baths. I think today, we are going to go the luxurious route. It involves warming the bath towels, having a nice fluffy robe and slippers by the door.

  • Next step is to put on some music that appeals to you. Enya might be a really nice choice.
  • Turn on the water and pour in a generous amount of bubble bath, purchased earlier this week.
  • Light the candles that you have arranged around the room, turn off the light and then step carefully into the bath.
  • Give yourself at least a half hour just to soak. I know that soaking is not something I usually recommend, but for today, go for it. You deserve a little pampering.
  • Okay, time is up. Dry off with a warm fluffy towel and then dust yourself with a bath powder that will match the perfume that you will wear later.
Late, late, late afternoon... go to the salon and treat yourself to a new hairstyle. You might want to get a manicure while you are there. In fact, if you are really pampering yourself, you might want to book your makeup as well.

You have pampered yourself all day and you feel incredible. It's time to put on that new dress and dazzle the world.
