Skin Savers This Summer

Quick Tip

While summer is all about lazing around in the sun (wisely), there are a few things you should consider if you want your skin to be at its best. Here are just a few things to consider.

*Over Exfoliating

While it is important to exfoliate the dead skin cells from your face, it is also important not to over do it. So, how do you tell if you are exfoliating too often? Watch for signs of small cysts or whiteheads. To be safe, it is advised that exfoliating shouldn't take place more than twice a week.

*Have You Looked?

A lot of skin is exposed when you wear a swimsuit. And that is especially true for your back. Did it ever occur to you to use a facial mask on your back? It can be applied with a back sponge or your significant other if he/she is handy. Leave on for 10 minutes and then step into the shower.

*Cucumber Mask

Here is a mask you can whip up in the kitchen every time you want to give your face a treat. All you have to do is chop half a peeled cucumber into chunks and blend with half a small container of plain yogurt. This should moisturize hot summer skin. Keep refrigerated and share with everyone else in the house.

*More Sunblock Advice

When you are applying your sunblock, don't forget the ears. Research is showing that skin cancer often appears on one's ears. You might also want to consider wearing a hat for protection.

*Self Tanners Won't Work If...

Self tanners won't work if your skin is damp. Be sure to dry off throughly and then wait for your skin to return to it's normal temperature.
