More Summer Curls

You have a head full of curls but not quite sure what to do with them. With summer right around the corner, you probably won't have a lot of time to play with your hair, so I have made it easy for you.
  • Ask that your hair be cut into lots of long layers. This will maximize the curls that you have.

  • Consider some of the products on the market that will add highlights. Actually, my daughter used a spray in liquid that slowly lightened the top layers of her hair. It worked really well for her and surprisingly enough, didn't harm her hair. I had heard bad things about these products, but apparently the warnings were not warranted.

  • Find products that hold the curl. My daughter uses L'Oreal Studio Line Lasting Curls Gel and loves it.

  • If you are using a blow-dryer, be sure to use the diffuser attachment so that you don't blow away all of your curls.

  • We all know that it looks pretty cool for your style to look as if you just climbed out of bed, but the same isn't true for "hat Head." The minute you take off your hat, give your tresses a good shake. If it needs a little more help, a little gel on the tips of your fingers can scrunch in some flattened curls.

  • If frizziness is a problem for you, use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner to weigh down the hair, especially in humid temperatures.
