Silky Soft Legs

From About.com

Nothing is worse than putting on that summer dress and then having the hem catch on your legs! Shaving is something that we have to do and it is the biggest time waster that I know! Men don't realize just how easy they have. One little face to shave and they complain...sorry guys but its true!! We have practically our entire body to shave and you think you have it bad!!

I posted the question about shaving on a bulletin board and these are the answers that came in. I figured that someone had to have a few tricks to make it easier and these ladies offered their expertise! Read and learn!

  • Use Tend Skin every other night
  • Gillette Sensor Excel for Women Razors
  • Change razor cartidges frequently
  • Skintimates Shaving gel for sensitive skin
  • For coarse hair use a shave alum block to lift hairs prior to shaving (what my hubby does)
  • Soak for a minimum of 3 minutes in warm water prior to shaving, and exfoliate with either an AHA (I like Aquaglycolic cleanser) or grainy substance (sugar)
  • Moisturize following shaving with a non-irritating balm (I like Bag Balm which has antiseptic properties)

Complicated, but I'm a stickler (pardon the pun...it was intended) for silky smooth skin! ~ Amy

I swear by the Braun Epilady. It stings a little the first few times, but the accompanying moisturizing lotion works wonders to sooth any discomfort. Sleek and smooth - its great! ~ Teri 2

  • Wash your body, shampoo, condition (I like to leave the conditioner on to work while I shave) This gives your pores to open up and the hair to get softer.
  • Exfoliate. this gets rid of dead skin that may clog up razor
  • On shaving cream. (I use skintimate ultra protection)
  • Let the cream sit there for a little while to soften the hair.
  • Shave gently and slowly (underline!) with a (duh!) razor against hair growth. (I use silk effects which works without pressing too hard)

Hope this helps! ~ Dain

The hair on the back of my calves grows kind of to the side, not up and down like the rest, so I recommend become familiar with the direction of hair growth and make adjustments on the angle you are shaving at.

Also, be sure your razor is sharp! Nothing like a dull razor to scrape the skin off.

I always have my legs in the bathtub to be able to relax and see carefully what I'm doing. When I shave standing up in the shower, I always rush and miss spots, as well as push too hard and create "burn" areas. ~ Gayle

I think that exfoliating my legs before I shave really helps me get a smooth shave. I use Origins True Grit but any brand would work. ~ Latasha

*Product Review

With the emergence of so many barefeet showcased in sandals, I thought that I would check out a product made just for them...your feet! I have been eyeing this particular product since the beginning of summer but hadn't gotten around to trying it. This week I did!! Its called "Barefeet" by Freeman! You can't have missed the product. The company has gone out of its way to design a brightly colored container to catch your eye! It certainly caught mine! But enough about the package...its what is inside that counts! And that is a liquid foot powder in a peachy-mint scent. I followed the instructions, applying the liquid after emerging from the shower. It went on nicely and had a pleasant scent. Okay that was nice but what could it do? About a half hour later I noticed that my feet suddenly felt a tingly cold sensation...and it continued..and is still continuing as I write this article. It felt marvelous!! I would definitely recommend this product...it makes your feet feel wonderful!! And scented too!! What more could you ask for on hot summer days like the ones we have been experiencing!!
