Tucked and Flipped Updo
Quick Tip
Things You Need:
-a blow dryer that offers between 1200 and 1500 watts and is light enough to hold easily
-sectioning clips
-straightening balm if hair has curl
-hairspray that will hold without
-leaving hair crunchy
-large round brush
-two thin pony tail holders
-vertical barrette (thin)
-long bobby pins
Step-by-Step Instructions
(If you need help with blow-drying, I have included a link under "Related Resources" to the right of this article that offers the directions you will need. For this style, I will jump right into the particulars after the blow-drying has been completed.
1. Part hair on side so that you can sweep it to one side in a later step.
2. Draw all the hair from the crown into a low ponytail at back of head. Secure with a tiny pony tail holder that is the same color as your hair or close to it.
3. Twist pony tail into a spiral and secure with a second ponytail holder about two inches from the top.
4. Pull spiral up toward the crown and slide a vertical clip through spiral. Most of it should disappear from view. This should hold the spiral in place.
5. Fan the hair at the top of the spiral as you see in the photo. This should cover the second pony tail holder as well as add interest to the style.
6. Return to the section that you parted and sweep it to the side and under the spiral. It can be held in place with long bobby pins.
Additional Tips
*While Conditioning...
You would be better off skipping the roots. This area doesn't require conditioning. It is the ends that require a little TLC.
*More Shine Please
Want even more shine? Try blasting your hair with a little cold water as you do your final rinse. This method has been used for generations... and it works.
*Temporary Color
This is quite popular with teens and probably with their parents as well. The color (as bold as it may be) washes out after a few shampoos.
