Choosing the Right Stockings

Believe it or not, choosing the wrong color of stockings can completely ruin your look, but this mistake is made over and over again. Pantyhose can be very inexpensive, so stock up on some "cheap" varieties just to try out some new colors. Once you find the perfect shade, trade up to a more durable (costly) pair and then buy lots when they are on sale. There this nothing worse that finding out at the last minute that you don't own a pair without a snag.

  • Unless you are trying to make a fashion statement, match the stocking to the shoe. For rule of thumb, shoes should never be lighter than the stockings.
  • Okay, you are wearing a red dress and red shoes. You certainly don't want to wear red stockings. In this case a natural sheer will work perfectly.
  • If you are wearing an open toed shoe, I opt for a sheer stocking. And don't choose stockings or pantyhose with ruinforced toes.
  • To make good stockings last, women have been freezing their stockings for years. I'm not sure what this does to the fibre, but apparently it works.
  • In case of emergencies on prom night, I highly recommend carrying a second pair in your evening bag. You just never know.
