How To Talk To a Celebrity

Before I even begin, always remember that there will be times when a celebrity would rather just be left alone. Respect that.

If you spot a celebrity in a restaurant, keep your distance. More often than not, they would rather be left alone. However, there are occasions when this is not true. If the celebrity glances up, spots you and grins, it is pretty safe to bet that they wouldn't mind you approaching them. If they ignore you, well that says it all.

A few years ago, I spotted a well known, often interviewed doctor who is well known for his light hearted jovial moods. He was at the airport waiting for an early flight and had his head buried in a newspaper. He obviously wished to be left alone and we did just that.

Watch your newspaper for announcements of television specials that need an instant audience for the background. The celebrity often takes time to talk to anyone who wishes to line up for an audience.

If you get an opportunity to chat with someone you have always admired, keep your conversation short. You may feel that you know the person quite well, but they DON'T know you. By all means tell them how much you admire them and leave it at that. If they want to continue the conversation, they will let you know.
