Halloween Costumes For Pennies!

From About.com

With Halloween looming at the end of the month, I thought that I would devote the next four features to costumes and makeup! All it takes is a little imagination and a bit of time set aside! So, don't miss out on that party this year because you have nothing to wear. This year, you are going to be ready!

So what do I go as???

Okay, I am going to think back over my years of parties and such and simply tell you a few costume ideas that I have seen! They take virtually no time what so ever and will be the easiest of what is to come! First of all, what about going as a teenager! You must have a son or daughter that dresses ...just a bit unusual...borrow something of theirs! Failing that...how about a niece or nephew. Gothic is popular these days, you could get a lot of mileage out of that one!

Another easy one to do is a poor soul that has been in a car accident. All you need is an outfit that has been somewhat torn up in places, a little fake blood and for a nice touch, carry the steering wheel around with you for the evening.

Another easy one to do is a vampire. I did this one year and all it took was an old penoire that I dyed black with the addition of a long silky slip of a different color to add contrast! With a heavy hand to the makeup case, I made a pretty good vampire, if I do say so myself!

The pirate who accompanied me was another of my creations and all that entailed was a a pair of raggedy old jeans, a too tight t-shirt, a bandana and an eye patch. I have a photo of these costumes that I would have loved to have displayed but unfortunately, the scanner just wouldn't behave! I will keep working on it...maybe next week!

Question of The Week

My eyebrows are a mess? What can I do about them? ~ Suzie

The answer might be in tweezing and it isn't that bad...honest! All you have to do is take a good look at them and decide what needs to be tweezed. To figure this out, brush them in the direction of it's growth and then look for the straggly ones. Now pull out one at a time. And just for reference...the brows should start just above the corner of the eye and end just a little past the outer corner!sb :)
