The Scary Hair Zone

Finishing Hair Styling - Mini Tour and Product review

Once the cut is done, make sure you pay attention to the finishing. The blow dry or whatever the stylist does to finish your hair. This is really important. A good cut will do more than half the job, but you have to know how to tame the beast the next day. Make note of what size brushes are used. What styling products are going on your head. One question I am asked is “ Can I just get a mousse or gel at the drug store?” Yes you can, but don’t expect your hair to look the same. Salon products do make a difference. Watch how they’re used and even ask to try it yourself if you want to. They've put the scissors down and it's safe for your pinkies now.

In a perfect world, you walk out loving your new look. Most of the time the world is perfect and you do. Sometimes not. If you have drastically changed your style chances are you need time to get used to it. You pass by windows and think someone is following you. I ask all my clients to give it a week. If after a week, you hate it, you can’t make it look right, and you are thinking of calling Mafia Joe and putting a "contract" out, call your stylist and holler 911. Sometimes all it takes is working out a styling technique that is easier for you. We can’t fix it if we don't know it's broke. Remember, we want you to like it and we want you to come back. We also don't want our digits broken by Mafia Joe's friend Bubba.

Change is a damn scary thing. I understand the trust it takes to sit in a chair and have someone change your hair into something that you have to live with, look at and have everyone else look at. Your hair is one of the most important components of your image of yourself. It takes guts to let someone mess with the image. Taking these steps will keep you in control of the experience and keep a trip to the salon from being…a voyage into….THE SCARY HAIR ZONE. ~ Tami K. Coxen

*Product Review

Last week, we discussed how to get soft silky legs and I don't know if you noticed or not but over and over the word exfoliation appeared. I decided to see if it really did make a difference so this week the product I chose was Freeman's Beautiful Skin "Raspberry & Almond Smooth Body Scrub"!

I have always believed in exfoliation...it simply made sense to get rid of dead skin that couldn't do the job itself but I had not used anything beyond a nylon puff. This week I gave the Freeman's product a try. You apply it to wet skin and then massage it in using a circular motion...it felt really good...even relaxing!! And the scent...nothing fake here..it really did smell like raspberries and almonds...absolutely delicious!

After rinsing off, I proceeded to shave my legs and I have to tell you ladies, it does make a difference! As I am typing this entry 15 hours later...my legs still feel silky and that is something for me! I'm really impressed!! Give it a try ladies...you will like the results!
