Cologne and the Restaurant
An obvious don't...
Sales of men's fragrances are growing steadily. Unfortunately with its growing popularity, a few mistakes are being made. One such mistake is the amount used. The scent should not be obvious until someone steps into your space, and that is only a few feet in diameter.A few years ago, I was seated at a very crowded restaurant and the scent of someone's fragrance was overpowering my meal. It seemed that the fragrance was coming from a nearby table and as I glanced over my shoulder, I noticed a young man sitting a few feet away. If I was having a difficult time ignoring his cologne, his dinner companion must have been having an even harder time.
While in this particular case, the scent was definitely male, I have seen just as many women wearing too much as well. So both genders need to learn how to wear less. Unfortunately, it's the spritzers that are at fault. One press of the button on top of most bottles sends out about twice as much scent than is needed. I have experienced this myself on numerous occasions and have come with a solution.
Instead of spraying the scent directly on pulse points, I now spray the air and let the scent gently fall onto me. I know that fragrance companies warn that this can destroy fabric fibres, but I haven't lost a dress yet. But if you don't want to take any chances, spray a handkerchief with your favorite scent and tuck it where it cannot be seen or in a pocket.
