Top Picks for a Seventies Style Christmas
What were woman asking for in the 70's? Here is a list from that a decade that seems so long ago.
Fragrances... two favorites, maybe three.
Charlie was one of the most popular scents around during that decade. It focused on everything sporty and up-to-date. English Leather for men was one of the most requested colognes for men. For me, I can remember my favorite... Diorella.
Nail Polish... yellow?
Polishes were just as popular then as they are now, if not more so. Perhaps it was the colors that I remember so vividly. My best friend absolutely loved... canary yellow. And just in case you were wondering... the longer the nails were in the seventies, the better.
Platform Shoes... and glitter too.
I don't think that anyone was less than 5'8 inches tall in the seventies and it wasn't just women who were drawn to shoes/boots with very tall heels. And the fashion didn't just stop there. Think shoes with tall heels covered in glitter or leather strips and in every color of the rainbow. Thinking back, they looked amazing then... now I think people would probably just laugh.
Native Jewelry... sticks and bones.
Bone necklaces and earrings made of tiny twigs was very much in fashion and available everywhere from street vendors to upscale shops.
Scarves...make them long and colorful.
If I remember correctly, long patterned scarves were huge in the seventies. I wonder how many memories that would bring back to some lucky recipient?
Dr Scholl's Sandals... nothing like walking on wood.
They had a wooden sole and were incredibly comfortable. I will have to check around this summer and see if they are still being made. For the past few summers, I have been drawn to the strappy styles that make me look taller than I really am! I wouldn't mind a pair to tuck away until the warmer weather arrives.
