As Young as You Want To Be

There was a time when all kinds of things were blamed on simply getting old. I know that I used to think that way, but my Mom has changed my way of thinking immensely. She has just passed her 71st birthday, and I think that she has more energy than I do.

To begin with, my Mom is in a band and what is even more amazing, she is the youngest! A group of music loving friends in her town decided that they would get together once a week and play music. That in turn led to "gigs". Remember, my mom is in her seventies! Getting old simply isn't in her vocabulary. Here are a few things you can do to put the spring back in your step. Actually, you should never have lost it in the first place. You are... as young as you want to be!

Here's What You Can Do...

*Have a little fun, every single day. One such way that might not have occurred to you is to put on a vacation video and re-live a long ago vacation. All kinds of wonderful memories will come flooding back... guaranteed.

*Be optomistic. Research has found that an optomistic person is happier, has better coping skills and if that isn't enough, it can lower your blood pressure.

*Take up a little exercise. Mom walks 30 minutes with a group of friends every day and insists, she has never felt better in her life.

*Don't Do a Thing
This might sound like an odd request, but there are people out there who will find this amazingly difficult. Me included. Find yourself a comfortable chair, close your eyes and simply sit there. Deep breathing will relax you and allow you to let go of any tensions that have built up in your body. Less tension means more energy and a better state of mind.

*Redecorate Your Bathroom
Who says that you can't change the color on a whim. If you want to change it from blue to hot pink, who's to say you shouldn't. Growing older simply isn't a factor.

So here's to living every day as if you were in your 30's. You are as young as you want to be... just ask my Mom!
