How To Overcome Shyness

You have just enrolled in a new school, or you are destined to make an appearance at the prom this year. Both can be very hard on the nerves. Instead of being excited, you are scared silly. Here are a few ways to manage your shyness.

If you are new to the school, keep your eyes open. There is usually someone that knows exactly what you are going through and will approach you if given half a chance.

Keep your shyness to yourself. It is probably a passing thing anyway. Anyone going into a new situation would probably feel just like you do at the moment.

Strike up a conversation with the person owning the locker next to yours. It's a start.

Dress down to some extent. Don't try to make an impression with hair the color that can be spotted a mile away, or clothes that screams out that you consider yourself better than everyone else. Simply try to look your best... but subtle is the key here.

Be a people watcher for a few weeks. You can pick up a lot of tips on how to conduct yourself in your new surroundings.

Be positive... you are going to be as popular as you want to be in no time flat. Just don't try too hard.
