Marmite Soldiers
You Will Love Them or Your Will Hate Them
The next time you are in the supermarket, search the shelves for this beauty product. It comes in a black pot with a yellow lid and was created in the same year (1902) as the coronation of Edward VII, Queen Victoria's son. Click Here for a photo of this interesting product, not to mention a little history of its origins.
How do I apply this product?
No, you don't apply it, you eat it! That is if you can manage to swallow. More about that later.
Exactly what is Marmite?
While I expect that many of you will already know this product either as Marmite or Vegemite, I am sure that a lot of you have never heard of it. So, here goes. Marmite/Vegemite is along the same line as peanut butter or jelly... you spread on your toast and it is VERY good for you. It is just full of Vitamin B, and not only does it provide energy, it is good for your skin, hair, nails and your eyes. It even combats cancer. Does it get any better than this? Actually yes, it has anti-aging properties as well. And here is one little gem that you might not be aware of. It helps prevent hair of graying. And oh yes, apparently it slows down balding as well.
So What are Marmite Soldiers?
Actually it is buttered toast and marmite that has been cut into ribbons. This was part of my children's breakfast from the time they were old enough for solid food. I held my breath.
Marmite Trivia
I don't think that you will find the flavor being released in the United States or Canada, but a well known food company in Britain has introduced a new flavor of ketchup... you guessed it... marmite.
Why would I not be able to swallow it?
That is the tricky part. You have to acquire a taste for this spread. Unfortunately my first taste was in my twenties. It did not go down well. And during my two pregnancies, I couldn't even bare the smell of Marmite. But it became a staple in our house, and my two toddlers grew up on it. They are now in their twenties and they still love it. Now if I could just find a way to hold my breath, and mask the taste... I just might look ten years younger!
