Braiding Tables
Braiding tables were quite popular during the Victorian era. They consisted of a small wooden structure, with a hole in the center. Bobbins wound with human or horse hair hung around the edges of the table. Elaborate patterns were followed and the tiny weighted braids were dropped through the hole in the center of the table. These braided chains of hair were then made into watch chains and hair ornaments that can be found in museums today.
