Living in NYC, I see edgy hairstyles all the time. The boyfriend and I like to point out amazing haircuts and colors to each other while riding the subway. We particularly love wild afros -- curls that bust out all over the place -- and I'm partial to mussy shags and blunt bobs and red hair color.
Last night the boyfriend and I attended the Broadway show "Picnic" and the woman sitting next to me was probably 60 years old and rocking the Edgiest Gray Bob Haircut Ever. Her bangs were super blunt and super short, which many beauty experts would tell you is a beauty faux pas for anyone over 28. But she rocked that look. It helped that she was very tall, as skinny as my left thigh and had one of those amazing long necks that can carry short hair with grace.
Today I've gotten myself absorbed into decorating blogs on the Internet because my other passion other than beauty is interiors. So shallow, I know. Anyway, about an hour into being newly obsessed with Anna's blog "Door Sixteen," I spotted a post that featured her edgy haircut. So much nicer than long blah hair, Anna's cut has edge. Study the photo, then read the post to see for yourself (The best haircut I've ever had.) how much went into achieving this cut. It was basically designed by Anna and involved drawings, pictures of her from years back and a consultation.
Anna has gone back several times to get this cut since that post was written. Her fantastic stylist is Mariko at Dlala Salon on the Lower East Side.
