Emma Watson Pixie Haircut: Love it or Hate it?

By December 3, 2010

Follow me on:

The pixie haircut seems to be popping up on celebrities every few months. The latest to adopt the look is "Harry Potter" star Emma Watson, pictured right with her new pixie cut and left with her hair longer, back in May.

Most women can pull off the pixie, according to stylist Rodney Cutler in Glamour Magazine. (Cutler is the one who gave Watson her new 'do). The key is to adapt the cut to the face shape, he says. Women with round faces should keep the sides shaggy to play down the fullness of the face. Women with wide foreheads (the heart-shaped face) should get long, side-swept bangs instead of the short bangs you usually see on a pixie cut. Brush the bangs forward or sweep them to the side.

See a gallery of my favorite pixie cuts for inspiration.

What do you think of Emma Watson's new pixie haircut? Love it, or hate it? Weigh in below.

I love Emma’s new pixie cut! It makes her look a few years older, and I wasn’t sure who she was before I saw the picture of her with longer hair. It’s flattering, and I like it (although, it may help that my own hair is also that short).

I think Emma’s pixie cut looks great with her face shape! It really plays up her eyes and cheekbones.

I love it, although you probably think it makes her look like a pinhead, or perhaps it is too OLD for her…

I love Emma’s pixie haircut! It looks great on her and I also like how different it is from the Hermione-hair she had growing up. She’s ready for change. After the Harry Potter films, I’m looking forward to seeing her in more roles! =)

(8) connie says:

Pixie’s look good on all petite women. Not as good on tall or with long necks. Then you get the pinhead look.

I think it’s really important for Emma to NOT look like Hermione.

That role is done. Time to move on. Beats the heck outta how other child stars have worked to show the world that they’re grown!

(16) Stephen says:

That’s not one of her best pictures of when she had long hair, so by looking at these two pictures alone, I would say she looks better with the pixi cut. I think she looks better with long hair, because the pixi cut is too severe!

(17) jd says:

I LOVE Emma’s pixie! it actually inspired me to cut my long hair off into a pixie as well and i couldnt be happier! mine is a little longer and layered of a cut but i needed bangs. i think she is gorgeous and the cut just draws more attention to her beautiful face. it’s daring and risky and i applaud her! :)
