Another Cool Beauty Tool: Your Finger
Wednesday June 24, 2009
I use my index finger all the time in the name of beauty. After applying eyeliner to my bottom lid, I always smudge it so it looks less harsh. You can use your finger to apply a sweep of eyeshadow on your lids (I once wrote not to do this, but I've since changed my mind), you can use your finger to apply cream blush on the apples of cheeks and lipstick looks super natural when applied with a finger, rather than perfectly in the lines.
I like to apply Dr. Hauschka's lip balm, then apply a bright red lipstick with my finger. The balm melts onto my lips in the most fantastic way, but I hate the lack of color. The red adds just the right amount of pop without looking too fake and perfect. Lips are left moist and sexy.

I do a similar thing actually – bit of lip balm applied with the finger, then a slick of gloss over the top. They look nice and natural.
Your finger is a great tool to use. However, when working around the eyes, use your ring finger becuase it applies the least amount of pressure. Sometimes using your index finger causes bruising under the eyes creating dark circles.
TABB, good catch on the index finger VS. the ring finger, which is actually the best finger
to use. I remember learning that at several Mary Kay parties and also had my make-up done at the mall and they tried to teach me as they went along with applying a full face make-up. I remember that specifically b/c I have terrible dark circles under my eyes which
most of this problem is heredity so there’s not much you can do, except for preventive meausures. A lot of people think (and I once, was one of those people) that if you use your finger, does it matter, which one
you use? I used to use my index finger for
years before I learned in my late twenties
that using that finger could have contributed to my dark circles just getting darker for no apparent reason. I started using my ring finger and no kidding, within a few months, I started to notice a bit of a difference.
