Should You Start Your Beauty Routine With Mascara? Maybe

Wednesday January 7, 2009
In this new year, considering simplifying your beauty routine by starting off your day with mascara. Why? A quick glance in the mirror may prove it's all you need. Many of us pile on eye primer, eyeliner, eye shadow, concealer, foundation and lipstick because we think we have to. But many of us can get away with just a bit of mascara and lip gloss. We don't know it because we've been taught to apply mascara AFTER we "do up" our eyes.

Finish off your simple look with sunscreen, concealer around any discolorations and lip color.

I wish mascara were the only product I need! hat said, there’s no way I can put mascara on first b/c my clumsyness always gets eyeshadow and concealer in my lashes which is super hard to get off already mascara-ed lashes :-(

well, i think that is a pretty good tip, considering most people do the whole “complete look” without realizing their complete look is just the first “step”

Yep- this is good advice. I’ve heard makeup artists say a bit of concealer, mascara, lip gloss and blush is enough. I used to use foundation, but my skin is better now- this is all I usually use.

This is great advice…something which I usually do because I never could have been bothered with slathering on the make up. Most mornings its a bit of eyeliner and some mascara. Plus it means I don’t need to get up earlier.

Most mornings my go-to routine is tinted moisturizer with suncreen, bright lip gloss and mascara. It makes me look “awake” :)
