Question of the Day: Do I Really Need a Fancy Shampoo?

Wednesday December 3, 2008
A friend of mine asked me this: Is Fredrick Fekkai shampoo worth $40 bucks or am I just as well off with Pantene? I told her, it is if you have a lot of money and you love the shampoo. It isn't if you want to save money. Pantene is a good shampoo and there are other good drugstore brands. The choice is up to the individual.

Think you are right about this one. Really depends on what “value” you get out of the experience. If it works for you, then it’s worth it. If not, then don’t waste your money.

I agree - whatever works best for me on my current budget. There’s a few “elite” brands I do like, and when I can afford it I splurge. Because I switch between shampoos and have short hair, they do last me 6 months to a year, so the price is worth it. But when I get down to it, there’s a lot of good drugstore brands - and Pantene and Aussie are two of them.

What’s with the first post on makeup - didn’t see how they related to hair care? LOL

I guess that they are charging only the name
of this famous hair stylist. Shampoos,
basically all have pretty much the same ingredients. When the budget is tight even a
one dollar shampoo does the same: just to clean the hair. Yvonne

I have tried many shampoos and cannot live without my Garren (from the Garren salon) shampoo. It truly keeps my hair soft, shiny and makes the color last beautifully.

If all you want is clean hair, why not dual purpose your dish soap??? Yes, salon shampoos are worth the extra to keep your hair at it’s ultimate in my opinion!

Yes, it is up to the individual but as a military spouse & all the stylists I have had & worked with (I’m a Nail Tech), they all say NEVER use Pantene - it puts a yucky coating on your hair.

i think its worth it if you get it in 1 ltr bottle, and expensive brands you normally only use small amount of shampoo/conditioner..pantene and cheap brands makes my hair oily and greasy…so go for value size salon brand…no supermarket shampoos!!
