... Charlotte Feeney of Stratford, Conn, who sued L'Oreal for ruining her social life.
According to the Associated Press, Feeney sued after she dyed her naturally blonde hair brown. The package, she claimed, was labeled as blonde, but contained brown hair dye instead. The incident so upset her, she suffered from anxiety, had to wear hats, take antidepressants and stay home. My favorite part of the whole thing: She "missed the attention that blondes receive."
A Connecticut judge dismissed her lawsuit. Read about the whole thing here.

There are so many things psychologically wrong with that women that I don’t even know where to begin. For one thing I’m a mixed race (b/w) natural brunette with Botecelli (sp?) curls that I sometimes straighten and a lot of the time my blonde (not a spelling mistake I’m British)friends get less attention than me. But what we all know that she obviously doesn’t is that it doesn’t matter! I actually feel quite sorry for her, she really does need to seek professional help.
Anything for a free buck – READ THE DIRECTIONS
“Charlotte Feeney of Stratford says she can never return to her natural blonde hue, a shock that left her so traumatized she needed anti-depressants.”
um…1) methinks the lady dost protest too much and 2) exactly “why” can she never return to her natural hue? it’s called: dye it your own color (yeah, someone makes it) and let it grow. Depending on how long her hair is, a few years ought to do it. Maybe not a quick fix but a far cry from “never”.
I would have settled for L’ sending me a bottle of free dye as per #2.
(And I’m not even going to touch the idea about whether a social life is all that important; being a happy introvert with a few favorite friends, I am unqualified to attest to that overall importance of a “social life” to an extrovert…)
she can go to a salon and have it fixed. I’ve had to do it and i’m sure i’m not the only one. this is sad.
This lady must be CRAZY! I mean….if I “accidentally” dyed my blonde hair BROWN….yeah…i would be upset! But I wouldn’t SUE!! For cryin out loud woman! That’s insane….just dye your hair again…and I totally agree! i would soooo want the hair company to send me a free bottle. But the color of your hair is sooo fixable. This lady just needs to get a grip and stop being such a whiny pathetic person. Goodness gracious. There are soooo many more important things to worry abt than the color of her hair. And with the whole “blondes get more attention” thing…I HAVE to disagree…I live here in the good ol’ south and even tho EVERYONE is blonde down here…I have a LOT of friends that are brunettes and whenever we have a Girl’s Night Out….they DEFINITELY get PLENTY of attention….occasionally more than me!!! ha ha…and i AM a blonde! wow…
This puts me in mind of the woman a few years back who sued McDonald’s because she spilled hot coffee on herself. That lawsuit started the whole having to put “Caution! HOT!” on labels. Uh, yeah…WHY someone wouldn’t have figured out the obvious (that the coffee you just ordered is HOT..LOL!)is beyond me but I guess there are some people out there who are extraordinarly dumb…I have my moments but thankfully I have never been THAT dumb. As far as this woman “missing the attention that blondes receive” I’d say she has some issues that are a lot more serious than her hair color. Ms Feeney should stop wasting money on hair color and start investing in a therapist instead!
HI EVERYONE,
I’m so happy that this judge dismissed such a frivolous lawsuit. It is about time! When I used to dye my hair, I always would check the bottles & instructions. There is also a strand test that people can do to see how the color will turn out.
In the past with all the hair dye mistakes I made, if I did win lawsuits I would be a very rich woman by now. A free product or a refund is fair enough. Some people just look for easy ways to make $. Also about the blonde & brunette hair colors, maybe it used to be that way yrs. ago, that blonde was better. But that has really changed alot.
I see more dark hair colors & more ethnic women on the magazine covers than I did in the past. Right now my hair is a very dark brown/almost black with alot of silver & I get more attention then I used to when I bleached my hair blonde. Any color of hair can look beautiful when it is well taken care of & healthy. Any textures too.
I agree with the other people who posted, this woman really needs professional help for her mind. Her hair is the last thing she should worry about. She can do many things to fix it. She can go to a salon as someone else suggested. She can grow her hair out. She can wait till the color fades. She can get her hair cut shorter as a quick way to grow it out to her natural hair color.
Anytime someone uses a store box dye or even when they go to a professional salon, they take a risk that the chemicals may not turn out as they wish. Also sometimes the chemicals can damage the hair.
I just wanted to add that red hair is beautiful too. So, is gray hair. Good for this judge not to cater to this disturbed lady & her lawyer. I hope that everyone has a good day. Judy K. Chicago.
