Fine, Limp Hair? Try This Shampoo Trick
Tuesday August 19, 2008
In case you missed this shampoo trick for fine hair the first time I wrote about it last year, here it goes again:
Apply shampoo only to scalp and roots. Slather conditioner on the bottom two-thirds of hair, staying away from the scalp. Rinse hair of the shampoo and conditioner. The shampoo will work it's way down the hair, rinsing out the conditioner.

umm… wouldn’t the shampoo removing the conditioner be counter-productive of the conditioner’s job? and most girls i know leave on the conditioner for about 3 minutes… maybe the shampoo wouldn’t be as counter-productive then b/c some conditioner would soak in, but do we really want shampoo on our heads that long?
Hi Natasha, if you have fine, limp hair, you don’t need heavy conditioners. Conditioners can actually weigh fine hair down. The benefit of a conditioner for someone with fine hair is to coat strands, protecting hair from heat and combing. You don’t need to leave conditioner on for a long time and you certainly don’t need it close to the crown, where it can make oily hair more problematic.
I agree re the conditioner. I have fine hair, and if it’s hot and humid outside, it’s very oily, so I do put the conditioner only on the ends. It isn’t counterproductive to shampoo the top and have it rinse away the conditioner. I’ve found my hair to still be protected, but it holds some “shape” better, and doesn’t get as limp on those hot and humid days!
thank you for that advice. asians usually have fine hair and i am blessed with such…hehehe.. thank you again for the tip
Or, Natasha, you could put the conditioner in the ends, leave on for a few minutes, then put the shampoo at the top and rinse out.
This tip is brilliant, just what my limp waves needed!!!!!!!!
