Best Way to Apply Color to Lips
Tuesday July 29, 2008
Ok, moving on from the wet head controversy. Let's talk lips. I'm sure we'll all agree that the biggest lipstick faux pas is when women (or men -- I saw a transvestite on the subway yesterday who was guilty of this) line their lips with dark lipliner, shading in the lips with a nude color.
Find out when to use a lip brush, when to apply liner and most importantly, how to find the right lipstick shade for your skin tone in this article.

I agree. Dark lip liner and light lipstick usually looks really tacky and can instantly age you by, like, twenty years. When done tastefully, though, some people can really pull it off. One of my friends is African American and it looks gorgeous when she lines her lips with a dark color like cocoa or blackberry and blends it well at the edges (very, very well, so the liner is subtle) into a pink lipstick. I think it might be easier to do on darker skin since the lip liner doesn’t stand out as blatantly. I have pale skin and I know I could never pull off the dark lip liner/light lipstick thing.
