Conversations With My Hairstylist
Monday July 21, 2008
Just got my hair cut and colored yesterday by Antonio at Eva Scrivo here in NY. (Check out Antonio's blog, he was just featured in Vogue Magazine). Antonio and I decided to meld a couple of my favorite hairstyles, Gwyneth's edgy bob and Reese's heavy bangs, into a fabulous shag. I'm thrilled with the result. I told Antonio I wanted to feel "fierce" and I do. Some highlights from our salon visit:
1. When cutting hair, Antonio considers the shape of a woman's head, not just what would be flattering to her face. Few of us notice our hair from behind, but it's an essential part of any cut.
2. Antonio is doing fewer bobs these days, which I find interesting since New York is cutting edge. Is this the beginning of the end of the bob? I hope not.
3. Antonio is all about baliage these days. To find out more about baliage, check out our Q&A on it.
4. We decided not to cut my hair straight, instead Antonio thinned out the ends with scissors so they looked a bit jagged. I wanted the interesting texture.

Well, now that you cut your hair, we want to see a picture of you in your new do, and post it on your emails.
I agree! First you had bangs, and now a bob, but you never updated your image in About.com. Very curious to see your updated look!
