My Stylist, Antonio, Mentioned in Vogue
Wednesday June 25, 2008
How fun was it to find out my hairstylist Antonio Gonzales at Eva Scrivo was mentioned in the July issue of Vogue (the one with Nicole Kidman on the cover). He was dubbed a "rising star" and readers were told to get to him for an affordable haircut before he becomes to fancy for the likes of us. Antonio has been my stylist now for years and he not only always makes me look runway ready, but he's generous with his time and he's funny as well.
My favorite Antonio story involves a fire a few months ago at Eva Scrivo's old salon in the West Village. There he was with two "laaa-dies" (Antonio has an alluring Trinidadian accent) in foils when the fire alarm went off and the entire salon had to be evacuated. His clients found themselves standing on the street in salon gowns and Martian foil-heads and attracting stares. Antonio was worried the color would fry.
So what did he do? Antonio hailed a cab and the trio hightailed it over to Scrivo's Soho salon, where Antonio pulled the foils, rinsed and blow-dried their hair to perfection. What a guy. Congratulations Antonio!
