Email Hoax Alert: e.l.f. Cosmetics & Nordstrom

Saturday May 17, 2008
Faith, our makeup guide, writes in her Friday's blog post that the email circulating widely about $1 e.l.f. Cosmetics is a hoax. Turns out most e.l.f. products are $1, but Nordstrom is not going to buy them out. Check out the details on Faith's Website.

this isn’t a hoax. My co-workers and I all ordered cosmetics from E.L.F. and they were all $1. We used a coupon code (carolina) and everything was 50% off. The most expensive thing was shipping.

It was a hoax in that Nordstroms did not buy out ELF. ELF cosmetics have always only been $1.

Yes, they’re cheap, in more than one way!!!If everything is as shody as their eyelash curler, you’ll need a dermotologist! I purchased the eyelash curler, and thought it was quite the purchase at $1.00. The curler doesn’t have finger loops to put your fingers through, instead it has rubber covered rests for your fingers. I have used eyelash curlers since I was 15, I am now 38 and I had NEVER yanked off my eyelashes! As I put pressure on the curler, my fingers fell off the rests and the lashes from the inside corner to the middle of my eye were completely pulled out!!! The pain was incredible, (if you have ever waxed any part of your body, just transfer that pain to your eye). The curler ended up in the toilet (appropriately) with my eyelashes and I cried like a baby as I saw my lashes in the toilet and held my hand over my injured eye- I didn’t have the courage to look at my eye. A lot of trouble from a $1.00 curler - pain, anguish, and money spent. I will be starting a new job this week, celebrating my 39th birthday and taking passport pictures so I had fake eyelashes put on at a salon spa (I had never needed to use them before). I bought extra to reapply every 2-3 days, and bought a Shiseido curler, NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY E.L.F. COSMETICS!!!!!!

I can only imagine the pain of pulling out your eyelashes, but dang, how hard were you pressing that thing???? You’re not supposed to turn your fingers purple or anything!

I did the same thing this morning with the eyelash curler! Obviously it is not an isolated instance. I was devastated. Thank goodness after doing research, my eyelashe will grow back. But now I will have to go on vacation and the holdiay season with NO eyelashes on one eye! Unbelievable!

Maybe you should try the last curler on the other eye so that your eyes look even.

Is the eyelash curler all you guys have to complain about. I have not heard one thing wrong about the make up itself. I’ll skip the eyelash curler anyday!

The makeup is also a bit on the cheap side. It has that cheap makeup smell if anybody knows what I mean by that. The eyeshadow was too glittery for my taste and after a couple of hours, the color was gone only leaving the glittery stuff! The eye liner pencil was nice and soft and easy to put on but did not even last a couple of hours. And the lipstick colors I got to put in the lipstick compact seemed a bit greasy. I liked the brow kit I got but there is a big difference in the colors of the gel and the powder. I won’t buy from elf again. I am thanking my lucky stars that I did not get the eyelash curler!

HAHAHA! What is seriously wrong with you guys & the eyelash curler. As mentioned earier that seems to be the only complaints. What about the other products you purchased? I find it hard to believe you paid to ship $1 curler. Who really uses a curler anymore anyway? Also, too glittery for your taste for eyeshadows, maybe next time look at the pictures & read the discriptions. I would rather buy e.l.f. products than go to ULTA. They all seem to work the same to me. ALSO, MOST makeup needs touched up throught the day. I think its great.

I love makeup and have purchased a variety of brands from very expensive to drugstore cheap. I was VERY satisfied with my purchase from ELF. The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was the eyelashes, but that’s my preference. The smoky eye kit was wonderful, the eyelash curler works wonderfully, as well as the mascaras, the brush kits and especially the lip glosses. I never tried the bluch or powders because I have brands for those I really like. For $1 per product, the quality is wonderful. I get tons of compliments since wearing their eye products, and if you purchase the kits, they come with fail prrof instructions. I have recommended elf to everyone and will continue to do so!!!!!
