Best Drugstore Moisturizer: Eucerin
Tuesday April 29, 2008
If there's one drugstore facial moisturizer with SPF I'd recommend buying, it's Eucerin Extra Protective Moisture Lotion with SPF 30. My dad's dermatologist recommended it to him and he's been using it for years. Now Dad is no product junkie, but he swears it's taken 10 years off his face and he says as much to all his female cousins. In honor of my sunscreen recommendation, check out this new article by our skincare guide, Jen Adkins. Jen write about 6 great moisturizers under $20. I'm excited to have Jen on board and can't wait to share her favorite products with you.

Is anyone aware of whether or not this is appropriate for children’s faces? I’m trying to find a facial moisturizer for children that contains sunscreen without resorting to slathering on the coppertones, etc., which I don’t think is appropriate on a daily basis. Would love to hear what the advice is on this! Thank you!
Hi Monica,
I wish I knew the answer to this, but I don’t. I do know that there are special sunscreens for really little kids, but I’m not sure if you can use any sunscreen on children. (I don’t have kids).
I’d love to hear what others think…

When my kids were little I just put baby lotion on them (ie, Johnson’s and Johnson’s). Banana Boat has a great sunscreen for the little ones as well. I’ve never heard of a kid’s product that has both. Sorry.
Thanks for the input! Actually, I had a mother’s day facial over the weekend and the esthetician actually recommended either using the coppertones, etc., or to use a total sun block and not sun screen, much to my dismay. Her reasoning was that the sunscreen in moisturizers wasn’t really what the SPF indicated it was (i.e. if it’s labeled SPF 30, it’s actually only about SPF 7). Still on the search for a good one, tho!
Avon makes some good sunscreens especially made for babies and children.
